Is the Federal Government a Broken Down Mule?: A Case For Independent States and the Black Independence Movement . . . A Bilateral Analysis

I hope that I do not waste your time or mine in the ruminations of this treatise-

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

In my opinion, more so today than ever in my life or the history of our country, the federal government has outlived its usefulness.

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

The origins of this governmental entity was to establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defense . . . not to mention something about promoting the general welfare (this does not imply creating a huge welfare class at the expense of the working class), and securing blessings to us and our progeny (this does not imply shackling our children and grandchildren with a national enslavement debt of 20 trillion or so and climbing).

Put simply, the cause of this monstrous enslavement originated during Reagan’s quest to end the Cold War once and for all in the early 1980s and then “without rhyme or reason” continues to this day: Greedy Democrats with their high fat, massive pork barrel spending (See also: Sinister Implications of Dems), and anemic, “look the other way” Republicans who together pushed through inane spending bills attached to defense spending, coupled with the Cheap Oil Grubbers (me included) of the 1980s-present with their minds focused on only one thing, and the “Shangri La” Generation, largely Democratic faithfuls who only care about their proverbial wine (EBT), women (welfare for children) and song (no work to worry about) - provided of course that the taxpayers foot the bill.

Well, Obama and the Democrats and the do-nothing Republicans sure as heck delivered to their constituencies didn’t they? They’ve doubled (!) the national debt in 8 crappy years of BHO’s reign. (See: Chart) Tragic and criminal. Yes, Obama inherited a quasi-depression but he also promised viz-a-viz “Hope and Change” to balance the budget and end the wars. Both parties have failed the taxpayers who have to pay for all of this financial misadventure. The EXACT reason why Donald J. Trump must be our next president . . . for he’s the true outsider with a business acumen - and no ties to the 1%ers like Buffett, Koch, Soros and certainly not the Clintons and their bird feeder of corruption , the Clinton Foundation - like no other to correct this financial madness that’s running amuk in Washington and in fact in some of our state capitols like Sacramento and Springfield.

Frankly, the federal government is actually a roadblock to our growth as a nation if current policies: Obama’s embracement of the welfarization of our economy (which is crippling taxpayers), his slanted support of race relations viz-a-viz BLM, foreign policy toward ISIS and China (See: Bungling Obama and the Sea Islands), the absolute corruption of our political system led by the Clintons and fostered by Obama which gives foreign powers control over all decisions about our nation, et al. Sadly, I could go on and on. Don’t get me wrong, the Republicans are to blame too for “fiddling whilst Rome burns.” Again, that’s why Trump, with all his perfections and hatred by old line Repubs and the Dems, including the 1%ers, is perfect to fix this mess. Donald J. Trump is the only person, perhaps in the world, who has the ability to “crack skulls” in Congress, brush aside the bleeding liberals and their Left Wing Mediums who clairvoyantly think they know what’s best for you and me - the taxpayers, and get s*** done: Build that fortified border, dump Obamacare (which works great for the non-working poor but nobody else), balance the budget and pay down the debt before the dollar implodes, get our troops out of harm’s way and bring good paying jobs back. (Psst! Don’t listen to 1%ers like Mark “Fat Wallet” Cuban who benefits from low wage, Democratic Party/Hillary Clinton economic policies.)

So, can the states exist without the Feds?

With weapons of mass destruction readily available - don’t kid yourself, Iran has had the bomb for years now (See: WTF?) - you need a bomb and not a collection of states for protection today. Back in the day, you needed land and a viable population. Today, that’s no longer the case; just look at North Korea. Now this argument is simplified, but it’s a fact. The bomb gives a small country or state the power of a bazooka at a plastic knife fight. The best case for this might be Texas which has its own viable power grid, enormous economy (See: Texas = Canada), and balanced government which can maintain positive growth, this as opposed to California which has a strangling dictatorship of the Democratic Party in Sacramento and a resulting government and economy based upon principles and tenets of communism (everything’s free for everyone but those who pay for the freebies), which we know, quite frankly, will never and has never worked.

What about the Black Independence Movement?

What’s interesting to me is that, though I researched this topic, there’s nothing really current available online. Coincidence? I know some of the members were interviewed around the time of the RNC. That tells me that even the Left Wing Mediums don’t appreciate the ideas espoused by groups like the Republic of New Afrika. (See: RNA) Now. let’s analyze the notion of a so-called Black separatist movement which actually stems from Marcus Garvey’s “Back to Africa” movement in the 1920s which was centered in Harlem. He espoused the idea that, in order to be truly free in America, they had to leave. In other words, America was too racist and would never change. In order to get to Africa, Garvey preached what he called Black Nationalism, the idea that Blacks buy, sell, manufacture and live amongst themselves; keep the culture and the economy tightly wound around Blacks. This would allow them to completely profit from their own sweat and toil. At least, that was his goal. Interestingly, Garvey was railroaded and forced to leave the country because his ideas were seen as a threat to the U.S. Government.

Malcolm X, a follower of Elijah Muhammad and the Black Muslims centered in Chicago, espoused what actually was Marcus Garvey’s idea: Black Nationalism, only by the late 50s and early 60s, there was no longer the expatriation to Africa component. So, if I understand the Black Liberation Movement today (See: Black Panthers) and I'm no sociologist, what’s wrong with this idea? Fundamentally, people don’t like change, they like to be around people like themselves, and if this makes Blacks happy - and I write these words with the utmost respect and admiration for my brothers - I think it could be a very viable solution to a lot of problems (BLM, political exclusion, discrimination, etc.)

I remember Oprah doing a show on the sociological issue of Black kids “self-segregating” themselves in the school lunchrooms across the nation. As a long time educator, I’ve seen how all racial groups tend to do this. But why? (See: "Self-Segregating" and Why Are All the...) The author and researcher of the book, Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria…, Beverly Daniel Tatum, says that this can be good, it can be bad, but it also is quite normal, perhaps due to physical and social evolution. I personally don’t know for sure either way.

Let’s examine how Blacks could create their own country. Babu Omowale, a leader in the People’s New Black Panther Party, states that Blacks should migrate to the southern states of Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia, which he claims is the Black Nation. Whatever the case, I believe he’s absolutely correct. What’s wrong with that? Why can’t Blacks do this? Fact is, they can if they want to. The obvious benefits of this would be that the governments of the entire states, from top to bottom, could theoretically be entirely (I highly doubt this would happen as some non-Blacks would stay) or mostly Black putting them in complete control of their own governments, budgets, policing, etc.

Would this be bad? Good? Is this racist? I don’t know. Frankly, don’t Black Americans have the right to do what they wish? Isn’t that what the Declaration of Independence or our Constitution are all about? We the People? Don’t try to split hairs, here. Try to look at this argument from their point of view. Frankly, I think it makes sense to me.

A Black Harlem state. The fact of the matter though is that this would also apply to Native Americans and Hispanics. What about Asians? So, now things are getting a bit prickly. What about the “displaced peoples” if you want to call them that? If you consider the rest of the world though, we are unique in our “melting pot” experiment of a country. So, what's wrong with this? Maybe, just maybe, if this occurs, and Babu Omawale and his followers get what they want, we all can then live in peace and harmony amongst ourselves. Or, is this a step backwards or in the wrong direction?

What about logistics, you ask? Well, what's to stop a mass wave of Black people to move to say Mississippi and then petition the Feds for permission to establish an all Black state. Again, they wouldn’t even need to do this predicated upon shear numbers. Note that there are approximately 75 million Blacks in the United States today. All five states mentioned above have total populations of about 30 million people. So, the numbers support Omowale’s vision. I see no reason why Black Americans, who have suffered through as much as any American in our history, cannot have such a situation to better themselves. The more I think about it, the more I think it makes sense and might be good for all Americans.

I would like to illustrate in close proximity to what I'm describing, an event which happened to me personally. In May of 1995, I had the pleasure of visiting Auburn Avenue NE in Atlanta, perhaps the emotional center of the Civil Rights Movement - for all practical purposes. Of course this was the neighborhood of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I cannot tell you how exciting it felt to see the many Blacks walking up and down the street, engaged in their daily lives, enjoying their neighborhood and their culture unadulterated by the laws, government or outside influences upon them. I remember thinking, “This is Black America. This is what Black society looks and feels like.” Could you imagine what kind of society completely free Black Americans could create - given no discriminatory limits to their desires? I wonder what Dr. King would feel about this idea of Black Nationalism? I don’t have a good feeling about it. But, perhaps if he were alive today, Dr. King might, if not just a little, waiver on that idea.
