Come And Get Your Love: A Celebratory Ode to Redbone (By Pat "Redbone" Vegas, founder and bass player of Redbone)
Copies can be purchased here: CGYL. The work includes Pat Vegas' memoir about his life and the band, but also a collaboration with artists Bunny Brunel, Pete DePoe and His King Kong Beat, Mark Guerrero, Jim Hoffmann, Mike Kowalski, Butch Rillera, Ryan Settee, Christian Staebler and Cherokee Artist Johnny Vaile. The work is also chock full of stories about key relationships in Pat Vegas' life (e.g. Jim Hendrix, Jim Morrison), charts describing their various works, as well as a timeline of Pat and Lolly Vegas and Redbone.
By trade an investigative journalist, I had the distinct honor of being able to help Pat Vegas with his monumental ode to one of rock's greatest bands, Redbone. Not only is their music magnanimous and pioneering in scope, but Redbone was the first Native American rock band - ever.
Pat and his brother, Lolly, prior to Redbone, played as a Hollywood club act with their soulmate, drummer Mike Kowalski, and also crafted the very first Swamp Rock song, "Niki Hoeky" with Jim Ford in 1967.
Redbone's hits included but are not limited to "Maggie," "The Witch Queen Of New Orleans," "Alcatraz," "We Were All Wounded At Wounded Knee," and of course "Come And Get Your Love."
Please purchase a copy of Pat Vegas' Memoir, enjoy the tribal dance down memory lane and rate it on the Amazon website.
